Greetings chaps,I
I intend fitting my 1969 Traveller with an intermittent wipe facility using a relay and modified headlight switch. However the wiring diagram only shows a green wire running from the ignition live fuse to the switch and then green black on to the wiper motor. There are three connections to the switch - Green, green black and black. There are similar three wires on the motor which is at variance with the circuit diagram. Before I pull the bit of the wiring loom apart to establish the correct wiring diagram has anyone had the problem before, or got the correct wiring diagram ?

Well that's two relays, a timing chip and a rheostat ! I'm keen to try the relay and switch idea......waiting for the details!

You are reading the wiring diagram incorrectly. Diagram N44 which is the appropriate diagram for your car shows the green feed wire going to the wiper motor then a green/black wire from the motor to the switch, then black to earth. The other black earth wire controls the self park.
There is no need to modify a light switch, there are enough terminals to perform any combination of on/off/on. You need to remember that the wiper motor is always live with the switch on the earth side.
I have used a light switch to provide power for the electric wash/wipe

paulj- Many thanks, did not know this bit of kit existed and might be the answer to my needs, will investigate further and post my results.
mike.perry- My wiper switch has a green {Ign ON live) wire, however it does not look original and disappears into the heater. Must investigate further. Thanks

It may be using the heater as a convenient junction. As long as there is a green live feed to the wiper motor it does not matter where it comes from

I have used this timer from maplins K2599. I found it a bit bulky but it worked okay on my Pick Up but it is a two speed wiper motor not the origional Moggy wiper motor. I fitted a different Maplins kit (slightly altered) to my 4 door saloon. Its been working ok for the past 4 years, its smaller and works via a moggy headlamp switch in place of the wiper switch. Maplins adjustable timer MK 111 code VT27 £4.99 price in 2008. John
