Dr. Alex Moulton has died aged 92. Inventor of revolutionary suspension systems for bicycles and cars, his designs found use in millions of BMC cars from the Austin Mini to the Austin Ambassador, and he also designed various bicycles.

Gracious thats a name from the past - I had a Moulton fold up bike in my teens becuase I had a back problem and it seemed a kinder bike for me.

Now off for a ride on one of his bicycles.
Hopefully, the cycle production will continue for many years even if no one uses his ideas on car at the moment.

I don't think Hydragas suspension will make a comeback. Although advanced for its day modern car coil spring suspension is so good you can run over a kerb without feeling much.

That said I have no experience of the last car equipped with 'gas - think it was the MGF? It might have been refined somewhat by then.

Also coils are probably cheaper as factories will be set up to produce them by the millions and fewer parts involved...
(I used to have a hydralastic Wolseley Hornet,the ride of which I quite liked but it had its characterful quirks which wouldn't be tolerated in todays market).

Indeed, I know what you are saying, I like the bouncy ride of my Aggro because of the 'nostalgia' and the general image of the car.

It would not be accepted today as you say Iain. But for me it's a laugh and I like the system, find it very comfortable and responsive to hard cornering, fast driving etc.

Coil springs? That's a bit 1970's ;-)
You forgot to mention active dampers systems, hydraulic lift and levelling, active roll control etc..
