I have a Mkii splittie and in a box of bits I just acquired is an ampmeter (from something) classic.
Questions 1)- Are they worth fitting if everything is working ok? i.e do they give any useful information
2) - does anyone have a wiring diagram?
Cheers

Re: ampmeter
Yes - second best accessory after an oil pressure gauge. Take brown wire off the solenoid - extend it to the ammeter - run a new (thick) wire from the other terminal of the ammeter back to the solenoid - where you removed the brown wire. Simples !! Make sure the wires are extremely well insulated where they pass through the bulkhead into the ammeter.

Re: ampmeter
make sure the scale you have is in the range for a moggie ,too wide and it's hard to see a change too small and it will always be on the max
Cheers Alex

Re: ampmeter
In your case - yes - the brown wire on the starter pull switch. It's not a solenoid - because you have to pull it ! The later solenoid is so called because an electrical coil (the solenoid coil) pulls the contacts together at the flick of a key switch.

Re: ampmeter
If the meter reads backwards after connecting it, just interchange the wires on the back of the meter.
