I actually remember having an Amstrad CB901 rig in my MG Midget in the 70s,
It was removed when the car fell to bits and was reinstalled in my 1974 Ford Capri 3 Litre GT.
Basically a waste of space with constant pointless chatter - bit like Facebook or Twitter!

OK, finally installed this 'rig' in my car, under the parcel shelf. Channel 19 is the busiest. I wonder if any members here are going to the National Rally and will have them plugged in?

Have you tuned the antenna, or is it already resonant?
If it isnt you will put out a poor signal, but probably worse, the amplifier in the radio will get very warm,output amplifier transistors are known as the fastest 3 legged fuses known to man
Also with reference to the use when mobile, dont,the Police will have you lickety split.
Hands free unit required.
N.B. if my hazy memory serves me correctly you will find channel 19 is predominantly used by Truck drivers.

I bought an aerial from a radio shop and the guy said just stick it on your roof with the magnetic base and go, so presumably this is fine. Having a short test confirms the reception and I seem to be transmitting OK.
