185/14 Tyres??

Post by oddbod »

I've just read this times, December issue, Practical Classics and a recommendation is " VW Polo 185/14 tyres fit well and are cheap" this is on a Staff car, a 1970 Morris Minor Traveller, which belongs to the Editor Danny Hopkins. Any views,as I understood 165/14 was pushing the limit.

Been discussed before - it's the usual Pratical Classics rubbish - and as for Harkins........ The max size for standard wheels is 145 X 14, and yes - some squeeze on 155. I have done - and it handles like a blancmange - don't even think about 165 and 185 is ridiculous. But - were they using standard wheels??

I've got 185's on mine... But then that is on wide rims.

Perhaps the traveller in question also has wide wheels of some sort.

I won't go for 185's next time though, a bit too wide really. 175's next time around for me.
