Oil Pump
OK then which way do I go. Here we have a mini oil pump which is not exactly the same as the old Morris pump. As you can see it will not fit, now do I alter the oil pump to fit or the rear engine mounting plate. Its less than 1/10 inch, I favour the mounting plate cos when its done its done.

Re: Oil Pump
Hmmm - that's not the best oil pump...... The 'steel backed' pump is the one to use. However - you have that one now - I would definitely just file off the pump till you have clearance - NOT the backplate! Is it definitely the correct pump - short shaft for a 948/1098, the long shaft is only for a 1275 ? And yes - also for the 970/1071 Cooper S engines, but hardly relevant here!

Re: Oil Pump
Thanks Roy, it is a GLP142 from Mini Sport so it should be OK. I'll take your advice and alter the pump.

Re: Oil Pump
I see - the Kent pump is the steel back pump I mentioned earlier - but some difference in price ! Yours will be fine. Be SURE to pre-load it with oil and some vaseline if the engine will lie for a while before being started.
