Painting
I was wondering if anyone knew what the standard colours were for painting the ancillaries on the 948cc A series engine. I.e. I have painted the block in BMC Green and am trying to paint everything else up to original spec. I also have a very rusty exhaust manifold that I would like to paint with manifold/ engine enamel but not sure what colour?

Re: Painting
People will tell you all sorts of different things, but they were sprayed as complete assembled units (all ancillaries included- even spark plugs had overspray) in the green, which I believed varied over the years too! This information comes from someone far more knowledgable on Minors than me, who worked for BLMC and has been a 'Minor specialist' for over 30 years. So, if you want a factory-original finish, spray it all badly in some sort of green!

Re: Painting
Well now the engine is finished. It's all nice and green - bmc green of course.
My least favourite bit - is the rusty brown exhaust manifold. I've seen you can get some manifold paints on the market but not sure if they're any good.
Any thoughts for what paint I should use on the manifold? Silver/Black? Enamel/ manifold paint. What temp etc?

Re: Painting
If I were you I wouldn't paint the manifold. You might get fading problems over time and I don't think they were painted in the first place?
But I agree - you can't beat a fresh lick of paint to finish of the rebuild.
