radiator overheating
hi problem with radiator overheating have renewe thermostat and housing and radiator cap all to no avail recently had electronic ignition fitted coincidence? grateful for ideas
Re: radiator overheating
Could be running too retarded - but in this weather -I doubt that's the problem..... Assuming no leaks - could be loose fan belt/worn out water pump impeller/blocked up cores in the rad (are all the little fins present?) - but most likely is a leaking head gasket or a cracked head. By all means try flushing out and advancing the timing till it 'pinks' -then retard slightly.

Re: radiator overheating
how do you know it's overheating, blowing the water out, boiling, have you got a temp guage fitted ,long journey, ticking over etc a bit more info required.
Re: radiator overheating
no temp gauge after ticking over start forward water boiling flooding out overflow
Re: radiator overheating
You know not to fill the rad right to the top? But if it's as you say - likely is the head gasket - but do all the simple checks/tests first.

Re: radiator overheating
well if it does it straight off before fully heated then certain to be head gasket, but if it takes a while after running for a few miles then could be radiator blockage.
