wolfrace

Post by les »

There's me thinking there's only one wolfrace wheel and now find out there's hundreds! Thought I'd google it before asking here whether they are still made. I' mean the proper wolfrace, with the slots. So here goes---do they still make them? (14x5) please of course.

Doubt it - they are the bees knees though. Mine are 14 X 6" with 185/60 tyres - on my TR7! The good thing is that the centre area is flat - so it would be possible to drill a new set of stud holes to another pitch if you can find a set. Mine are 3.75" pitch - to suit the Triumph obviously.[frame]Image[/frame]

They look like a slightly later wheel, the other ones had more of a rounded corner to the cut-outs.

I think it's just the angle there Les - they are genuine Wolfrace wheels. There used to be 'Slotmags' - similar design - possibly the more 'rounded' holes you remember?

Well done with the links Robbie - the Slotmag holes are very definitely much more rounded than the Wolfrace. Pity the Wolf are 13" - and only two up.

Your thinking about cobra superslots les, the wolfrace have always had squarish slots.

I have also moved the thread, because wheels arn't really bodywork

Wolfrace slots (and others, e.g. turbovecs) have the 2 indentations in the rim with the wolfrace logo and some details about the wheels

Thanks Matt but it's the wolfrace I'm interested in-----I had a couple a few years ago with the inset logo. I must have imagined the ovalness of the slots! :-?

Hello Les,
I'm a Wolfrace sort of a bloke. As far as I know, neither Wolfrace or Cobra Superslot made a 5.5 wide 14 dia wheel which was what you asked in the first place.
Common sizes for a Morris were 5.5 x 13 or in a 14 inch diameter, Wolfrace started at 6 inches wide with the next width being 7 inches.
I had a van in the 70's with 5.5 x 13 on the front and 7 x 14 on the back and it was ok. The larger 7 inch wide back wheels just fitted under the arches but I had a mate with a saloon and 6 x 14's were about as wide as you could go without modifying the arches. It might be a bit different with today's lower profile tyres so perhaps best to ask around before you go too far.
I have 5.5 x 13's all round these days on my saloon with no problems at all. I spent quite a while on Ebay picking up one's and two's as I saw them and it took a while to get a set. There are slightly different profiles too which I didnt appreciate until I started looking seriously. I ended up buying quite a few until i had a set the same and then selling the others on to get some cash back. They are about but it might need a bit of patience to get some.
Cheers, Colin.

Thanks Colin, that does give me my answer! Also the info you have posted is very helpful, I definitely wouldn't want to go wider that 6''. As you suggest I need to check out a few things.
