su fuel pump problems

hello people....long time since been on here.....my sister managed to break the engine after restoring the moggy :evil: ...so full strip/ rebuild now a new engine....now im having problems with the fuel pump.....it wont pump....nowt...dead horse.....took apart and found it was a bit stuck from rust...so cleaned out .....new rocker arm as the old one had had it....refitted.....and still no pump.......it flicks over when you put power to it but refuses to flip 'throw over' once its done the full travel......ive adjusted etc and it just 'throw over' ............am i missing something simple? '

Is the diaphragm clamped up too tightly? I seem to remember that it has to be held at full stretch while the rim screws are tightened? And then - adjust the throw -over till it pumps.

i have adjusted the diaphragm tight then back it off until you could push against the diaphragm and it flicked over then undone 2 more holes in anti clock wise....while keeping the 30tho gap..ive tried making it looser but still no joy

I was referring to the ring of screws round the base - where the diaphragm is clamped......

got ya.....not sure i did it that way or not....i assume you bend the tab on the rocker to set the throw over?

No bending! The throw over is adjusted by screwing the points on/off the thread slightly.

gave up on the pump...it just wasn't having it....so brought a new one
