Door cards

Post by daveyl »

I would be grateful for your help. 1) Is there a product or a way of bringing faded door cards up to muster. AND 2)is there a way of removing paint over spray from said door cards (I've tried celly thinners, white spirit and bleach, all to no avail)

Fairy power spray and a good toothbrush.
Check it out on you tube.

Vanish soap seems to get most ingrained dirt out for me - not sure if it would work on overspray though if thinners hasn't budged it! :(

I use Cillit BANG!
On the same subject, what do people use to re-furbish door cards when they are distorted from getting damp?
Is it just thin hardboard?

There's not a lot you can do as the hardboard distorts very easily. Try taking them off the car and lying them down flat and covering them with a sheet of board the same size. Place heavy books evenly all over the board and leave for a week or so.
This may help.

You can replace with 3mm millboard from Woolies when the door cards swell. Alternatively use very thin mdf but I find that too fragile.
