Repair panel for rear wings

Post by rogerowen »

I have 2 Minors (my daughter's cars) and both have holes in the rear wings - bottom trailing edge (worse one pictured), while the rest of the wings are ok. Looking at lots of cars - this looks to be a very common rust spot. Thought I might find a repair section easily enough - but haven't found one yet. I tried to fabricate one, but it's a complex curve to copy. Has anyone seen repair sections available anywhere?[frame]Image[/frame]
That's strange R2, the damage doesn't look so bad from here!

No - new wings are not that expensive - hardly worth the effort of working on it with a repair panel.

Try placing an ad in the Wanted section of this site. Someone may have a pair of rear wings which only need light restoration. Posting up your location under your name may help in your search :D

And of course - there are fibreglass wings which won't go rusty in future! Some frown on these - but for a car that is being 'used' I see them as a very sensible and practical alternative.

Metal is much better than fibreglass!

If you are interested, I could make up some repair sections as I can fold them up and put the curve in on the shrinker stretcher.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

This sounds absolutely brilliant - you might have to give up the day job! (you should be inundated with World-Wide orders!) I can send you various dimensions for the repair areas that I need, or you might want to make a standard 'oversize' version that other folk could cut down to the size required. Can I be your agent?

Cheers,

Roger
