Trafficators

Post by davidpidge »

Hello,

Some more incoherent rambling for someone to look through. Enjoy! Does anyone have any photos or diagrams of how the trafficators are wired? We are trying to reinstate the old ones which are present but are beyond repair. The n/s still has an old wire running to it so we can see where that is connected. We are assuming it is the positive connection although as the car is positive earthed I'm not really sure how anything works! Where do the other connections go?

Looks like we'll have to replace the entire trafficator motor etc. We only have one original lens/ chrome cover left on the o/s but the n/s will need a new one.

Anyone have some trafficators for sale by any chance? We also have to wire up a new switch as someone put a horrible switch unit under the dash for the flasher indicators that were added at some point. Luckily I already have a proper SII trafficator switch that someone from the owners club sold me.

Thanks in advance.
David

There's a wiring diagram for trafficators & combined flashers on the series MM website if that helps? http://seriesmm.mmoc.org.uk/indicators001.jpg

You can get these from most of the usual Minor parts suppliers

Club Spares have reconditioned ones for £55 each outright or £45 each exchange (see page 10 of Sept/Oct Minor Matters).

Thanks for that. I bought the plastic lens and chrome cover from ESM a couple of years ago for another minor. I found I had to file the lens a bit and bend the chrome to fit them together. Has anyone else found them not fitting very well?

When I bought the repro lens/chrome they fitted fine but that was quite a few years ago. Maybe worth keeping an eye out on ebay and posting in the 'wanted' forum here.

Buy the complete units ready assembled then you will know that everything fits.
Green wire from fuse box to ind. switch T3
Green/Red from switch T3 to LH trafficator
Green/White from switch T5 to RH trafficator
Check that there is a link between switch T5 and T6
If the warning light does not work you may need a link between T1 and T2
The trafficators are earthed through the screws to the body
