Never post originals off to DVLA, certainly not the original registration book, you will not get it back
I would not worry about 1955, just correct the reg docs and send them off.

Turns out it was just a typo on the advert, the LB says 57 and everything seems in order. yey.

Always worth checking it out - there are plenty of 'ringers' out there and you don't want to stuck with one - because potentially you could lose it!!

Up to 1982 ( Y reg) you got the next available reg number when the car was imported or the number was transfered. After that you could not have a number plate on the car that would make it look newer . you now get aged related plates for transfers . But with the DVLA there are many mistakes made.
