Brake problem - help please

Post by mickeytwonames »

I have replaced the Master Cylinder and a couple of the brake drum pistons as well as the banjo joints and a couple of lengths of brake pipe. I have done a couple of rounds of bleeding but still get a soft pedal for the first push down on the brake pedal - it then stiffens up and brakes fine - the system does not leak fluid anywhere - does anyone have any suggestion (however radical) for a fix?

Mickey, check out the recent posts in the 'mechanical' section on brake bleeding. It's probably just the shoes in the drums needing adjustment.

Yes - covered many times - adjust the brakes up tightly.

And bleed in correct order: n/s rear, o/s rear, n/s front, o/s front. Go round twice and that should be it. Enqure that master cylinder is kept topped up or you will get air in and have to start again.
