'Padington' The 1969 Traveller

Post by minor1098 »

Hello there,

I have been a long time follower of this forum and now finally I've acquired a rather tatty Morris 1000 Traveller.

I'm 20 and a Product Design student, and has always loved classic cars. This is why me and my Dad own three other classics. A Mk1 Ford Capri 3000E, a Triumph Vitesse 2000 Mk1 and a 1972 Triumph Toledo 1300. We also, just finished restoring and sold a Triumph Herald 13/60 a few weeks ago. We only have classic in our household and there used everyday just like when they where new.

Now more about the car. It all started when i was cleaning my Toledo on the drive way a few months ago when a chap approached me and started talking about classics. He then went on to say that his father in-law had a Morris Traveller in one of his lock-up (with more than three other classic american cars), and that he might sell it, as its been locked away since he acquired it back in 1998. I jumped at the chance, so the next day i knocked the door and the old man showed me the car, long story short, we agreed that i would buy the car off him all for the great sum of £350.

I got it home, put some fresh fuel in it, "tapped" the fuel pump a few times and imediatly Padington started up!! :D

Looking at the car, it seems like all the welding work has already been done. I think the main problem with the car is the Wood! As it totally rotten, and beyond saving.

As a student i cant afford the £1000+ they want for a wood kit  , so if anyone knows of any decent second hand wood for sale It'd be greatly appreciated!!!
