Hi there,
My name is Freddy. I'm from the Netherlands, just new here on this messageboard and I already have a question.
I am looking for some history about my smokegrey 4 door saloon from 1969. Originally it is an English car, but it has a dutch registrationnumber since 1999. The previous owner told me that the car was imported from the UK twice by the owner before him. It seemed that this man (or woman) was a Dutch doctor who moved to the UK twice. I don't know whether this is true or not, but this is what I am told. The car was also rebuild twice from RHD to LHD and back again.
Unfortunately I don't have the UK registrationnumber, but maybe someone can identify it from the story above? And maybe someone can identify it because there is some welding done in the UK, and the welder added a big welded letter on the left front floorpanel....
It would be fun to know were the car drove around the years before and to hear whether that story about the car changed country a few times is true.
Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Freddy

I cannot help with the car but welcome to the forum anyway. From your list of cars it looks like you are a big Minor fan already!

You should be able to learn about it's early history from the chassis number.

I know that the Gaydon Heritage Motor Centre can supply a Heritage Certificate with the chassisnumber, but that shows only the date of production, some specifics of your car and, when you're lucky, where it was delivered. As far as I know it says nothing about previous owners. Or is there an other way to find that out with the chasissnumber?
I reckon it is a long shot to track down previous UK owners with only my story, but on the other hand: there won't be many Minors in the UK beeing rebuilt from LHD to RHD. And maybe that big welded letter on the floorpanel is a trademark of somebody?
By the way: I forgot to mention that my Moggy has a goldseal 1275cc MG Midget engine. Maybe that adds something to the story, so anyone might remember this car?

IF,in the past, the car has been owned by an MMOC member, their 'database' (if anything like mine), will record it's details.
Contact the MMOC membership(?) dept. who MAY have the chassis/regn. number recorded(?)
UK Tax discs?

Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!
