Rear axle and Brakes

Post by Simon Jackson »

I have the option to purchase a rotten shelled 1500 Spitfire and wonder if the rear axle and brakes front and rear will fit onto my 1956 Split windscreen Minor??

Not a chance ! For a start - it has swing axle rear end......not an axle at all! And the front suspension is completely different too..... The battery could be useful - and the horn - and perhaps the headlights - not much else.......

Ahh well the axle is narrower - but you could use the final drive unit from it. And the rear hubs and brakes are the same as a Minor. The front discs could be fitted - but are no better then standard later Minor 8" drum brakes.......
