And don't go anywhere near the 'experts' that told you it was a 'sticking fuel regulating valve' :roll: in the carb.......... :o :lol: :lol:

To be fair they weren't far off the mark, not everyone knows about Minor foibles.
I's suggest Jonnyd gets a nice new pump, it's a much easier job to swap pumps than replace points.

Early on we were told the pump is only 6 months old........

Wasn't there a bad batch recently?
Get in touch with the supplier.

Well bad batch or not, it would appear I was wrong about the age of the pump. :o
All fitted this evening and everything seems fine, might be me but there does seem to be an occasional guff of petrol fumes. Not sure though and nothing seems to be leaking/wet. Also the new pump (genuine su) makes a bit of a knocking noise which I assume is normal.
