Rear axle filler plug

Post by jaguar68 »

Hi chaps,

which rear axles fitted to Minors have a filler plug. The axle I have fitted to my '69 4 door has a filler plug (I assume) about 1/4 of the way up on the domed section. I have noticed that on other forum post it mentions that a filler is omitted.

Can ayone shed any light on this issue?

Regards

The 803 and 948 axles originally had the filler plug in the diff housing, and the 1098 had it in the rear axle case. Over the years there examples of all the combinations with various replacements from fillers in diff and axle case to no filler in either!

Thanks Richard,

I believe that the 3.9 diff doesn't have the filler plug in the diff housing, so at least I can refill the rear axle when I come to swop them over.
