Rose Taupe paint match

Post by WPR678B »

Has anyone else had any celluose paint mixed for their Rose Taupe Minor? :-?
If so, has the match been good? :-?
I ask as I am having real problems trying to get a decent match! I have had 3 different batches mixed up by 2 suppliers and they have all been WAY off!!
The car in question has been garage stored for over 30 years and came with a pint (yes, a pint!!) of ICI cellulose which is a near perfect match, so its not due to paint fade etc.
I even had one place send off a panel for analysis and the blend that came back was worse than the first attempt from the paint code formula!
Any input? :-?

I think what has happened is the formulation of paint has changed over time , with some colourants now banned and the alternatives absorb , reflect and refract (sun) light in different ways. The paint could also dry to different shades to when wet. See if the paint factors can take a sample of the spare paint ( after painting to test peice of metal ) , and then attempt to match to that rather than from the book mix, which I would guess is a mix of red , black and white with perhaps a bit of green.
