white chalky stuff

Hi, There seems to be alot of white chalky stuff behind the heater box under the dash, anyone know what it is and how to stop it?

It's leaking battery acid......remove battery urgently and clean everything thoroughly - apply some mild alkali (sodium bicarbonate) something like that - and then find out how the acid is getting out of the battery....... Maybe it's just overfilled.....maybe it's cracked....... :cry: :roll:

sounds like iron sulphate salt,beware of your eyes and fingers ,do not rub your eyes , :(

use lots of clean plain water if you do get it in the eye.

It will rot your metal dash board bits.

if your battery isn't split but overfilled you can get a battery mat to put under your battery ,whatever it is it needs sorting quickly

I'd check that the battery isn't being over charged, this can cause the electrolyte to boil and shorten the life of the battery too.
