Hello all, i thought being a new member i would tell you a little about myself and break the ice.... truth be known i have spent months on this site as a guest looking over 100's of post learning what i can from you fine people knowing that one day sooner or later i WILL have one of these cars; i have now have the money for one and will be making the decision to buy it or not today hopefully and pick it up some time next week, any how enough if that for now, i am having one!

My name is Scott, 28years of age father of 2, daughter Shannon 2 and son Jack 7 weeks, i am a stay at home dad which to many seems very odd but it works well for me and my good lady (Emma) and i love it, the most rewarding yet tiring jobs i've done, I live in Doncaster as of January just gone and now that i have a garage i want a Morris Minor to go in it.

thanks for your time in reading this and i am hoping that i will part of many discussions in the future and to even the tables a little as i have been reading about many of you for a long time.

thanks guys i have sent an email to the seller of the minor telling him that i want it and when i can pick it up just waiting for confirmation from him now, apparently the seller has just moved and the internet is extremely poor so is "borrowing" someones internet at the moment.... i am sat checking my e-mails every few minutes all excited like a child at Christmas, however i am passing time nicely listening to music and reading the forums and learning lots.

i do have to say though in my experience of reading these forums BMC and yourself MarkyB seem to be very knowledgeable, certainly makes for interesting reading from a keen to learn noobie like myself

no i haven't seen the car though i am assured all is well, and to be honest it is a hobby to repair/restore and the bonus will be getting it back on the road, i am going to be having a look and a drive before i hand over the cash as explained to the seller, i want something that needs some work but not like a tea bag like some that i have seen.

Welcome to the forum and if you fancy a drive over to West Yorkshire come to one of our meetings you'll be very welcome, and the car on ebay looks ok for the money but do be very careful to check evrything, regards Simon.

thanks Simon that makes me feel a bit more assured that the car is a decent buy and the west yorkshire club thing, is it morris minor exclusive or can i go in the battle bus (family people carrier) before i have the morris minor sorted, I noticed that there is a club in barnsley also which might be worth a look, though i have to say i have never been part of a club in my life the closest i have been is the motorbike meet and Shurburn in helmet in the days when i had my motorbike (sold it when my first child was on the way, every child needs a daddy)

Yes it is a Morris minor club but you can attend in any vehicle you want, but I do understand its quite along way.

Welcome to the forum, hope you are good at welding. That car will take you a good few hours to sort, good luck and keep us up to date with progress.

beero - welding is something that has always interested me but i have never done so it'll have to be a case of practice makes perfect i will get a spare panel and practice welds on that until i feel it is good enough to do on the car and to get it checked, but the fun of the whole car is learning.

it'll take me a while to get sorted with the tooling required for it and the parts but it will be done carefully to hopefully make sure it's all right, might not be a minor on the road straight away but it will be loved and returned to the road in due course

Hello all again i thought i would share with you my day and now yet another thing to do before sorting Yoda, the past few days i haven't been to the garage which is attached to the house and when looking today i have found that i have had a visitor or two which have broken into my garage and stolen a couple of bikes and some other bits, yoda thankfully was blocked in by the modern that i have so the next thing is now the house alarm to extend to the garage which is being done this wednesday and cctv to follow shortly and then to complete the roof and finally maybe unless any other scumbag/s ruin more of my things i can then start seriously on the minor, sorry to be the bearer of bad news folks i do really intend to restore yoda it's not just a dream......

Unfortunately, this is all too common.. As an employee at a bike shop (won't say which one ;)) at least once a week someone comes back and tells the terrible tale of how someone has broken into their garden shed and their £999+ bike is no longer..

Hello all again, sorry it's been a while, insurance has been sorted and i have a few tools now to put me on, i am getting some shelving the back end of this month which then makes room for me to start on yoda woohoo as well as my good ladies list of DIY to do as i am sure we all have.

anyway... since i got the car back home it hadn't run just clicked upon turning the key so i thought whilst i had a little time before the shelves arrive i might try and get it started again, i replaced the earth leads as on checking the gearbox earth it snapped straight off with little effort and the battery ear wasn't much better but still no cranking....okay after looking on here and on mmoc for some insight i saw that there was a square on the end of the starter motor that could be turned if it was stuck.....could i see it, nope not at all i thought i must have a different motor or something to that effect(terrible lighting in the garage at the moment) i got a household lamp out and eventually saw that a sleeve was covering the square and upon turning this a subtle "clunk" was heard and the engine started cranking on the key but wouldn't start...progress i took the spark plugs out and cleaned them up which smelt of fuel and look sootie and wet, flooded i thought, then checked for a spark with a plug against the head "yup" splendid.......have you guessed it yet?

after much thought went and got some fresh petrol and BRUM!!!! woohoo, back to life once more, i had a smile for ear to ear for the rest of the day,

full resto to start soon, not a fast one but hopefully a steady progress.

will make a restoration post when i start next month hopefully
