Hello BMCE,
OK, but I did not mean to infer that. (In the factory that is what they would do, granted everything was new so that approach worked, pre-delivery was supposed to sort out any discrepancies but how well was that done?)
The S.U. carburettor is a simple but effective carburettor but seems to confuse a lot of people, and by setting back to all the base settings makes it a good starting point and shouldn't give any real problems from there on?

Re: su hs2 centering jet
To clarify i did do a bit of research before posting and the reason i asked about 12 flats of the nut down from base of carb was the artical was about an su h2 carb on a mgb i know its the same carb but the mixture might be different, and 12 flats down was not the correct mixture setting but was arough guide as to its not far from there. In ended up just started car and turned nut down until obvious to rich then revcar lift piston lift lever untill fell piston lift tiny bit more revs increased and stayed high turn a flat revcar lift piston and repeated untill revs raised then settled back down to what it was job done colortune tune showed slight yellow in blue more revs more yellow

Hello MriavGraves,
it doesn't matter what car, that is the nominal setting for H and HS types. I also seem to remember it was that setting for the HD which uses an adjusting screw as the jet is not accessible below the carburettor?
