1275cc carburettor

Post by jaguar68 »

Hi chaps,

I have a 1275cc engine from a Morris Ital, which I intend to fit to my '69 4 door Minor. I also have a 940 big valve cylinder head and a Kent 275(?) cam which I had intended to fit.

My question is this, if it use the head and cam combination with a lcb exhaust, would a HIF 38 carb be man enough for the job?

The engine is going to be coupled with a Ford 5 speed box driving through a standard 4.22 diff and standard 14 inch wheels.

Any advice will be gratefully received.

Regards

John

It will be restricting performance wise. You ideally want a hif 44.

that's what i thought. I have a HIF 44, but I'm not sure of the condition, what I do have is a refurbished 38, jetted for a K&N type air filter.

Sell the 38 to go towards a good 44?

Why not rebuild the 44? Then it would be 'as good as new'.

As above - just fix the 44 - how bad can it be?
