Hi chaps,
Can anyone tell me if the felt washer that lives in the timing case is required on a 1098cc engine?
I'm sure i've seen somewhere that it isn't, but I can't for the life of me remember where, or, indeed, if I've just made it up.
Regards
John

Re: Felt timing washer
I know the front oil seal is a standard rubber one, which I've already replaced. The timing chain kit includes the white felt seal, which in the haynes manual is shown fitted on the oil thrower. I'm also aware the the Haynes manual doesn't show a 1098 engine rebuild.
I take it then that the seal is included as the timing chain kit must be a "universal" one.
