Steering rack
Hello all just a couple of questions, I am going to refurb one of my spare steering racks with new gaiters and track rod ends ready to fit straight to my car. The one on the car has damage and is still fitted on car, is there any rough estimate measurement for fitting track rod ends or is it just a case of do it even enough and track it when fitted to car. Didn't want to remove the one off the car till got new one in readiness ton bolt straight on. Also will I need to put any oil in the rack? Thanks

Re: Steering rack
Measure the length of thread 'showing' on the rack that's on the car - and set to that length. But indeed it will need tracking.

Re: Steering rack
Fitting the rack is an awkwad job. If I remember, the bolts are inside the triangular section of the chassis
Fit the steering rack gaiters before fitting the rack or use cable ties on the inside ends of the gaiters.
There are two size track rods/TREs, make sure that you have the rack with the correct size.
