Traveller, pickup conversion restoration

Hi a friend of mine bought a Traveller that had been converted to a pickup. I was asked to to the welding, after a while he had a better vehicle turn up and sold me this one.[frame][/frame]
sadly I don't have any before pics, but I will see if I can get the original ebay pics from when he bought it.
Can anyone spot the major welding mistake in the above pic?
Anyway, the pickup conversion is not to my taste. eg a bit of ply for the cab back.
So I figure I have two options.
1/ convert back to a Traveller, I have the lower side timber but no roof or glass etc
2/ re do the pickup conversion. I guess id like the right pickup rear cab panel to go on.
I think the final decision is going to come down to cost.
I joined the club late last night and thought id put a post up asking for opinions.

Put it back to a Traveller - they carry all the gear without it getting wet!

put it back to a traveller. two reasons for this:

1) the pickup conversions need proper strengthening
2) the finished article (not that it really matter) will be worth more as it can be compared with others. pick- up conversions rely on finding a buyer who likes it as much as you value it.

Erm , yea some dumb azz, went and welded the outer lower sill closing panel to the floor panel before fitting , assuming you could rely on the aftermarket swage line to be in the right place lol..after fitting the floors and 'coercing' the outerr sill to line up ,I fitted the inner sill, Now I go to fit the rear floor panels and find that they will line up as long as i don't mine the outer lower panel being in totally the wrong place lol..
lesson learned i think lol..and a front floor to remove and reshape lol..
but at least the car is mine now i can take longer and do a better job. I would prefer a traveller i must admit, the problem i have is cost, id like the car looking nice, but i can't afford to spend thousands on little fitting that are missing.So unless a REALLY cheep back half of a traveller falls in my lap I'm a bit limited.I really don't want to turn out another bad chop job.

I think you'll struggle to do a pick-up conversion on the cheap and it won't be real, in which case go for the traveller option but like all these 'what shall I do' questions, you're the man who has to do it!

I agree with les. put it back as a Traveller, those Pickup conversions just look wrong.

Re the rear Traveller wood. Give the Morris suppliers i.e. Traveller Timbers or Woodies a ring. Sometimes they have "seconds" on offer. May help the budget
