Pops out of 2nd gear on de-acceleration

I have a 948 (but with a 1098 gearbox). It's suddenly started popping out of gear in 2nd - but only on de-acceleration. Anyone come across this problem? Is it a gearbox out fix?

It's a gearbox out and replace job I'm afraid, unless you have experience rebuilding gearboxes.

Either live with it - just don't decelerate in 2nd gear! Or overhaul the gearbox. The dog teeth on 2nd gear are badly worn and can't hold the syncro hub in place any more........ The next stage - it will throw out on acceleration - now that is difficult to live with.... Start looking for another gearbox..........

NO!!! That just wears the selector fork away -so you have even more parts to replace.

OK - DON'T hold it in gear!!

But it will help your nerves and temper if nothing else!

Just don't decelerate in 2nd gear -simples! Brakes are for slowing - gears are for going!
