steering rack gaiters
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a supplier of good quality steering rack gaiters? I bought a new one less than 2 years ago and it has gone caput! I found that the gaiter seemed over-stretched on full steering lock when I fitted it, and of course it has split at the weakest point. I can't find the receipt (amongst the 'millions') for it, so can't ascertain who I bought it from.
Anywhoo, it maybe that all the suppliers use the same manufacturer, in which case, it wont make any difference. However, I'd rather buy a better quality one than have to keep changing them every couple of years.
I've seen that 'Minispares' sell a variety of gaiters for minis and in various lengths. Do they fit?

I'd like the same info, it seems that these items have gone the same way as other parts. I would imagine that Esm spares are as good as any.

There's something to be said for a good sort out, I'm thinking along the same lines, definately no more moggy restorations, most everything you buy has to be altered to fit. I'm leaning towards two wheeled projects now, at least you can walk around them!

and no more for me either now
Re: steering rack gaiters
Quick update. I purchased a gaiter for a mini from a reputable minispares supplier. They sell a long 7.5inches and a shorter one. I opted for the longer one (without comparing) and it's at approx 3 inches longer than the one I took off.
I did think that maybe it would be too long and perhaps compress the bellows too much.
Anyway it fits well and came with the nylon ties.
Being longer, it was easier to fit (more give). Of course this may not be the definitive cure and only time will tell.

Sounds like a good plan, let us know how it works out.
