1st gear instead of 3rd ahhhhh!

Post by kingzdjc »

Hi guys,

did something really stupid today, and trying to get the car into 3rd gear (it struggles sometimes), I put it in 1st, going about 20mph. I have the 803 cc engine.

Engine sounds fine, is there anything I need to look out for, and should it be OK? Read some stories on internet about pistons etc???

Can you still get an early A series engine like the 803 repaired if anything has happened to it?

A bit worried

Thanks

If it doesn't sound broke, leave as it is. It'll probably be ok.... love to know how you managed to get it in!

But first is over by the left hand side of the passenger glove box door and third is by my left knee?

The gearstick on the series two has quite a lot of movement left to right and if you don't hold it far enough over to the right when changing from top to third it is easy to hit first.
Unlike the newer gearbox with the remote control mechanism the series two is like stirring a stick in a bucket! :D
