hi
has anybody successfully changed the back and front seats of a 1961 moggie for something from another car that is a bit more comfortable,
I have heard that the saab 800 or rover fits ok, but I have never met anybody that has done it, any tips would be gratefully recieved,
Cheers
Tony

Yes. Replaced a standard duo tone with the interior from a late Metro. You have to get a frame made for the seats as they don't fit the floorpan of the Morris. I believe these can be obtained from either Charles Ware or Fairmile Restorations make them. Once the seats are bolted onto these frames it's just a matter of drilling 2 more holes to the car floor (original seats only need 2 most moderns need 4)
The rear seats can be more difficult as most modern seats split and use the hard pre formed foam. I have to remove most of the metal/foam underframe from the original seats and then sew the top seat covers together. As the springs were ok from the Morris I covered the frame in a layer of polyester wadding and then "upholstered" the seat with the Metro fabric. The same with the seat base. If you have a 2 dr buy 2 door seats. It's much more difficult getting the rear seat from a 4 dr to fit a 2 dr. Hope this helps.

Newtons are ok but at over £300 per seat they are out of most people's price range.
