indacators not working
Hi
my 25a fuse blew so i put a new one in every thing seems to work now aparts from the indactors.
i also noticed a slight burning smell from under the bonnet after trying to get the indactors to work it was not coming from the fuse or regualator area so im not sure were it was.
Any ideas why there not working? is this a posible relay fault?

Re: indacators not working
There are no relays. The flasher unit may have failed. Simple test - take the terminals off it and join them together. Then try the 'flashers'........do they come on ? Obviously - they won't 'flash'.............

Re: indacators not working
Good luck - some folks have had terrible problems with 'modern' flasher units.. Why 'order' - do you not have a local Autoparts place ??

Re: indacators not working
Fitted new flasher units yesterday, worked fine yester day and most of today.
When in town this afternoon i relised the fuse has blown changed the fuse to fined that for some reason the indactors work but do not flash but just continusly stay on when switched and the light on the stalk stays on all the time with the ignition on.
Any ideas what has caused this?
Is it possibley faulty wiring or a faulty flasher unit?
Thanks
Ben

See above ^^^^^. I warned about the modern flasher units....... This sounds pretty much typical.

Re: indacators not working
Yep , just about every flasher can i get lasts ( and works differently if I swap between cars ) about 4 mins. I think it is to do with the current draw from the pilot light and the indicators themselves. I guess clean the earths and supplies to all indictators, might be worth while trying. Check the replacement fuses are 35amp and you might need to clean the terminals in the fuse box/connectors. You might also have a feed wire to the indicators worn through and shorting to the bodywork, particulary under the carpets or where they pass through the bodywork.

For quality try 'crappy' Lucas 35 years ago. Jos. Lucas never let me down yet - flasher can, coil and dizzy still going strong after 37 years.
