Minor Van Wanted - Advice Please

Post by Flunter »

My first tentative steps so please be gentle :D

I've just turned 50 (well, 51 actually) and have fond memories of my first drive after passing my test. It was an ex GPO Minor van owned by my uncle, I used it as part of my father's building business, the sound and smell will always stay with me. For that reason Minors have had a soft spot with me so I'm looking to purchase one for daily use.
I don't have the time at the mo for a restoration project (maybe in the future) but at the same time I'm not looking for concours as the vehicle will be used regularly.

Anyway, the advice I'm seeking is where's the best place to look for one and what kind of price would I expect to pay, bearing in mind I do want a van.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Phil.

Welcome to the forum! I can only suggest the best place to find a van will be in the For Sale section of this forum. Just check the seller has many 'posts' to their name - and has not just come on here to sell something. That wouldn't necessarily indicate anything wrong - but it should make you extra careful.......

My car was sold to me by a one post wonder, and no problems with the sale at all....

There are various websites specialising in classified ads for classic cars, a quick google should reveal all on that front. obviously, keep your eyes peeled on the for sale section here too

personally, for a van thats in a sensible condition for day to day use, I would personally budget a minimum of £2500

Thanks everyone.

I've checked eBay and all the other usual haunts but everything available at the mo is around 200 miles away from me, I'll keep looking.
Problem is, being male, I'm like a spoilt teenager... I WANT IT NOW!! :D

In the meantime I'll be spending some time here getting familiar with the forum. I've found the excellent section on what to look out for when Buying A Morris Minor so a big thank you for that.
