Pricing of parts

Post by dalgrae »

Just tried to order a stainless exhaust for my 4 door saloon from a well known supplier based in Gloucester as a result of seeing an advert in the latest Morris Minor Magazine. I found that I could not order it online, and when I phoned them I was informed that to comply with the price advertised I had to quote my Club membership number which cannot be done online , so I could only order it on the phone and then this incurred a £6 carriage charge .It seems a shame that advertised prices cannot always be honoured

Sounds fine to me... they have a right to ask for your member no. if this is what they are giving discounts for. And £6 carriage for an exhaust is nothing!

Did the advertised price include carriage? If so then you have a legitimate complaint.

I agree they have the right to ask for your membership details but I think the "concern" is that if you spend over £60 on line you get free postage and packaging so the MMOC discount is not be as big as it first seems if you have to pay P+P.

Simple answer - shop around and if you see a better deal elsewhere - buy it there! Or - send them an email with the required number and then order online. Is the mag price significantly less than the on-line price ??
