This one? saw this on the young members facebook page. I believe he is OK, just a cut to his hand. He rolled it a 60mph swerving to avoid something[frame]Image[/frame]

Glad the driver is OK -
That picture shows just how strong the body is though - hope it will be repaired rather than scrapped.

i would say that its a right off. But might be a good reshell project if a good shell can be found.

Glad the driver is OK. Why, however, would this be a right off???

From what I can see, it needs new front wings, bonnet, and front bumper, and looks like a new boot lid. Then the dented roof can surely be banged out to its right shape?

I would hardly call this a right off. The main shell look perfectly intact.

What is damaged can be replaced quite easily.

It would be ashame for it to never be on our roads again. Hope you get it repaired :D

Unfortunately it's not as simple as that. Even slight distortion could throw the wheels off balance, seams could have split and hairline cracks opened up in the steel.

Thank God the driver is OK, which is infinitely more important than the car being damaged. The car can be replaced but not so a life.

Failed the "moose test" then, I wonder why they swerved so hard.
Modern cars also fail on much wider tyres.

Best not to 'swerve' on the M way....... The shell will be written off - the roof damage makes it not economic to repair - could maybe make a Convertible from it!

this was my mums car that i was driving in with my (now ex) girlfriend at the time. the rear axel is bent, and i believe it is too far gone to repair, along with the costs etc. the roof cannot be pushed out, and replacing it would change the structural integrity of the car. I thought i saw something in my lane, so twitched the steering, it just lost it and i lost control after holding it for about 200 yards, hit the bank and rolled. the idea for a convertible is ridiculous and not an appropriate comment i dont think, given the circumstances. The B post is also bent badly. I'd rather this thread went no further as there is a police enquiry, and i do not want it to be compromised by anything that is posted on here.

Thank-you

Thanks for telling us the circs.......the comment re 'convertible' was just a suggestion for a use for the shell to avoid it being scrapped. I agree - Minor Convertibles are ridiculous. I have a roll bar on my TR7 - would never own an open top car without some form of roll-over protection.
