main beam flash switch?

hello. i am trying to install a push switch to the main beam lights so that when i push the switch they will flash on and off, but that the original switch will still work. i have tried connecting to the blue/white wire and earthing it but i get nothing, and although i'm sure this is a really simple thing to do, i'm stuck. if anyone could draw me a simple diagram/help me at all, i'd really appreciate it. thanks

From the battery, run a thick wire to a separate fuse (2x65 watt bulbs =130w. 130w /12v =11amps. So you want maybe a 15 amp fuse?) up to your switch and then from the other side of the switch to the Blue-with-white tracer wire.

Job done.

Earth---bulb---blue/white wire---dip switch---blue wire---light switch---battery.

...................................\----new switch---new wire---fuse---------/

Never take auxilary power direct from the battery, always take it from the live side of the fuse box from a simillar amperage conection point. taking it direct from the battery means you are feeding a 5,10,15 amp cable with 40+ amps direct from the battery thus overlaoding the cable you fitted causing a fire risk. Incorrect or badly wired items cause over 50% of all car fires.
