Luck

Post by colin addison »

Doesn't happen often but I broke the threaded section of the cotter pin that holds the clutch pedal to its horizontal shaft. After much swearing and then calming down I visited a local cycle shop.
The owner proudly announced he has a 1966 4-door and recognised the cotter pin immediately, it's a 9.5mm cycle part and in stock, of course.
I had visions of the design office in the Morris Works dreaming this one up!!

The other cotter pin which can break is the distributor clamp bolt on the later heads. The solution is to make them with a larger thread.
Do you have a photo of your cotter?
