Can anyone give me the correct order of spring and washers in filter bowl please.
I've got:
Spring.
Metal washer.
Rubber washer.
Bowl plate.
Once the bolt is up through the bowl is it: Spring on first, then metal washer, then rubber washer, then bowl plate, then filter element?
Does the bowl plate go with convex up or down.
Thanks in anticipation
Chris

Re: Oil filter bowl componant order
The order is:
Metal washer on bolt
Felt washer on bolt
Bolt into body of filter
Then the spring in the filter body
Then the large metal washer, concave face down
Then the filter
The rubber ring goes in to the groove in the top of the filter lid, attached to the engine.
Make sure that the old ring is removed. I held the rubber ring in place with some grease whilst I lifted things in to place.
don't forget to fill it three quarters with oil when re-fitting.

If the large diameter plate is not flat (some are) then the raised part should fit up inside the filter cartridge to help locate it.

Sorry, Should have said, the bolt already has a thick washer with an 'O' ring on ('O' ring seals to bottom of bowl)Tom and Maria wrote:The order is:
