engine numbers
I've just checked the engine number on my 1953 s11 803cc and expectedly it doesn't match the recorded number . What i'm after is the capacity (guessing it 's probably still an 803 )and the approx year of manufacter? The number is 9m-u-h-593183. As a point of interest the distributor is numbered as 40561-l is this original to an 803 ?Any ideas appreciated. Cheers Dan

Re: engine numbers
A '9m' prefix signifies a 948cc engine. If you check the engine block on the manifold side there should be '950' either cast on the block or on an attached metal plate.

Re: engine numbers
948cc dates to late '61/early '62 according to the book.
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!
