What do you need doing?

You might find a generous soul on here who lives nearby and would be willing to help...

Old Mod, you'd be better off asking your local branch who may know someone who can do a good job of the welding.

The trouble with free or mobile welders is you are likely to get an MOT style overlapped patch. OK for an old banger passing the next MOT but not good for the long term future health of your precious classic car!
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

From your comments you've obviously got the gear, I'd make the effort and get it done, at least you'd get what you want rather than someone elses idea. :D

Contact Giles Vodicka (SurreyHants Border Branch) He's based in Winchester 01nine62 8six911one or gilesv at hotmail dot uk

He should be able to give you some advice about local welders.
