Rear wheel traking/alignment

This is probably stupid, but as I am new to Minors, please bear with me, My 1969 saloon is great, but the rear tyres are wearing faster on the inside than the outside. I know I need to adjust something, but what and how is my question? any help will be gladly appreciated.

It is a solid axle, there is no adjustment. Check that the spring mountings and U bolts are tight

thanks, will have a look. I suppose swapping they tyres would compensate if everything else is ok?

The axle may be bent........ A simple check would be a length of dead straight timber held firmly against each rear tyre at hub height, in turn - pointing forwards. This will show if each wheel/tyre is running true to the centre line of the car. Get someone to drop plumb line points from the timber - and from the sills of the car. Then compare! I would normally expect the outer edge of the nearside tyre to wear more quickly - as the car rolls it's way round roundabouts!

its possible that the wheels have been swapped front to back,front wheels get uneven wear due to tracking,and common to swap the wheels over once the tracking has been sorted to get a few more miles out of them,Unless of course you have had the car sometime and the wear is only just starting,then as bm says check it out.

^^^^^ Good point there - I think the front/rear swap is much more likely.

thenks bm & kennat... I think it is the swap... everything is straight, and the car is relatively new to me

just in case....... take it to get the front tracking checked or you may end up with matching front and rear tyre treads or watch the fronts carefully for a while.

Given some time, and not much has changed... no extra uneven wear (in fact, looking a bit more evened out) and no uneven wear up front...
