Locking fuel cap
Wasn't sure whether this should be in bodywork or not, sorry if i posted in the wrong area, but, are locking fuel caps universal or must i buy one of the Morris specific ones?

Re: Locking fuel cap
Minor has quite a small filler pipe - so yes - it must be designed for that size pipe. eg a locking cap for a Mini would not fit.

Re: Locking fuel cap
The Minor filler cap also needs to be vented as there is no separate breather pipe on the fuel tank

Re: Locking fuel cap
Does anyone own a chrome locking vented petrol cap that does not require an adapter ring?
I am looking for one for my 1960 Morris Minor Tourer & 1960 Morris Minor Van
A friend told me he thought that the Van takes a different petrol cap then the Tourer.
Is this true? I just bought a Van but it is stored 100 miles from my location.
At this time I have no way of checking the tube to see if this is true.
I noticed that my Morris Minor Tourer is different from most other brand of cars.
It is an out side lip like the radiator on the car.. Other cars an inside lip on the tube.
This is the reason most caps have to have an adapter ring to make it fit & work.
If you own a locking petrol cap for a Van & Tourer can you tell me the brand & model.
I would like the information on any style of locking petrol cap with or with out the adapter ring
I will use an adapter ring if I have to - But would prefer one that did not need one if possible
Thanks for your time & help from over the pond.

This is a Wilmot Breeden locking petrol cap which fits on the existing filler pipe and spins when locked to prevent it being forced. The tabs have broken off.

Re: Locking fuel cap
is that Wilmot Breeden - 26090 ?
It is kind of hard to read - probably because of my eyes.
Being an old guy i find things seem to always be harder to do these days.

Re: Locking fuel cap
Just be careful you get the vented cap as I have had expensive, hard-to-find petrol tanks pancake because of this.
The cost of the full tank of petrol was nothing compared to a new tank.
