Re: Black sticky residue behind rear interior panels???
Might be a sound deadening film. Doesn't sound like waxoyl from your description. You will appreciate without seeing it it's not possible to tell if it's been treated before!
Re: Black sticky residue behind rear interior panels???
Hi,
No I think it is defo something like a treatment of somesort. Its too thin to be any sound film etc. Its really think around the wheel arch joints etc.
Just wondering, as I plan to brush waxoyl on the entire panel.

I think you are in danger of becoming obsessed with this panel! If its not rusted away below the area you can see, and only surface rust just scrape off the rust then wire brush it, treat with a rust killer, I use jenolite as it contains acid, let it dry then paint followed by a film of waxoyl. Then move to the next bit of rust!!

Haha, I think your right! Yes, Im going to wire brush it, then waxoyl it! Then try and stop worrying about my car falling apart!
Ive heard so many horror stories, about rust killers not really working, and the rust eating and eating away at it under the waxoyl!
Yes, I accept, I am a bit of a worrier!
Re: Black sticky residue behind rear interior panels???
We can all worry from time to time, worst part is knowing what to do but once that's decided then it's just the process to deal with. Then you can worry if it will be successful!!
