Fitting clip on side mirrors and grille badge???

Post by kingzdjc »

Hi guys,

really need help with this one.

Just purchased two chrome clip on mirrors, but where and how do you clip them on? They fit snuggly around the seam of the front window, but then I cant move the window. Then when the window is up, theres no room for the mirrors to clip on???

Also, I've just purchased the Morris Minor Club enamel grille badge, and am really puzzled with this one. I have the badge, a retangle metal plate (I presume to fix behind the badge), and a long screw??? The thing is, theres nothing to tighten the plate to the grille, so the badge is loose. Am I missing something here???

Thanks,

Daniel

Sorry -dunno about the badge, but I can say that the clip on mirrors are useless - although some do seem to fit them, goodness knows what to see in them - and they are so far away from your 'line of sight'....... Fit proper wing mirrors, on the wings - they work well!

You probably need to shorten the screw.

I would be tempted to exchange them for the type that fit to the triangular metal plate ahead of the quarterlight.
You need a posidrive and a 13mm spanner, a drill and bit, a hacksaw and vice to cut the mirror studs to length, but when fitted they dont foul anything and unlike the clip on type dont need constant tightening.
I find the wing mounted mirrors a faff as they get knocked and need resetting regularly, you need long arms from the drivers seat to do it in motion

Why do the wing mirrors get knocked?? Mine are fine - they even fold back nicely at speed for better streamlining........

I tend to move them when washing etc
Now of course I have 4 mirrors, emulating a customised scooter, I did wonder if there was a plug or blank to fit after removal of the wing mirrors?
If not, they stay.

To be more precise --a blanking grommet!

A bit like feathering the prop on your Lancaster after Jerry took a pot shot at the engine....
