To the unkown man with a lovely green splitty convertable that stoped to help me today near Bridlington

Thanks for stopping by and trying to help with my broken down pick up, it's much appreciated whoever you are. In a world of annon road users it's nice to know that us moggy owners stick together!

Happy motoring

Tris (Grey splitty pick up - hopfully soon to be back on the road)

Just waiting for the rain to give up (no garage), don't know whats wrong yet.

It started misfiring on overrun but was fine on throttle, got to a juction and it cut out - wouldn't start again.

Spark at points, spark at plugs so no probs there. Fuel supply fine to carb, took carb apart (metro carb) a teeny tiny bit of silt in the bottom but i've seen worse on cars than run fine.

Managed to limp the 75 miles home, fine on the dual carrage way with my foot down, soon as I hit taffic coughing spluttering missing? Loads of white smoke and felt noticeable loss of power, oil pressure fine. Smelt like it was running very rich and blugs are black bright. Tiny bit of emulsion around the rad cap, none around the oil cap.

Going to start with the carb i think, and I that doesn't cure it i'll have to take the head off I guess and have a look.

Any thoughts appreciated , still learning with the mechanical side of things with my trusty BMC manual.
