The engine prefix 10V comes from Morris 1000 van, closed circuit breather,
10V also comes from Vanden Plas 1100

Low compression van engine is prefix 10AB.

I see your Morris is a '67 2 door so doubt that the engine is the original that the car came with.
I just changed engines in my 2 door, searching for these numbers is quite confusing, everyone having a different opinion makes it even more confusing at times!

All the best,

Sorry to but in - but my '61 Minor has a 1098 retrofitted. I was told it was from a late car, but since the number is 10V189EH this suggests it then came from a van/1100?

It's not from a van - and certainly not from an 1100!

Earlier engines used a different system. The 918 side valve was USHM2 or 3, 803 was APJM, early 948 was APHM
Where U or A = engine type, S or P = side valve, push rod, H or J = capacity 800 to 899 or 900 to 999, M = Morris, A = Austin etc.
This was changed to 9M then 10MA
