My 1967 minor was running up until the head gasket going and being changed, now it is re assembled it wont start?
There is a strong spark at the plug and fuel is getting through ?
It is just not firing...
help, wont start?????

Has it got compression? Perhaps the valve clearances are too tight.

Welcome to the forum!! 2nd both comments above..... You MUST reset the valve gaps,(12 thou inlets and 15 thou exhausts) and of course the plug leads must on right order - 1342 anticlock around the dizzy cap - and #1 lead must be on #1 plug of course........

My bet is also on the leads being 1342 but moved one position round by mistake.
Oh, and the workshop manual says 12 thou for both inlet and exhaust valve clearances.

To help compensate for unleaded fuel (not an issue when the manual was written) 15 thou is advisable for the exhaust valves, which I believe is specified in manuals for later cars with the same engine (Metro etc...)

As long as there is a gap of some sort the engine will start, worry about the exact gap once it's running!
