Hello all,
Very new to all this, have purchased a 1956 series 11 split. Wire mesh air filter needs cleaning but I have no idea how to get to it! The books appear to have a wing nut the mesh end but mine does not, meaning I am unable to get into the main housing and clean it as well as the oil sludge etc.
I live in rustington west Sussex any help greatly appreciated!,

Re: Air filter
Well yes - if your car is a BMC Works Mini hammering over rough special stages, and you don't want the piston to be bouncing up and down...... If not - just use 3 in 1 !!

Re: Air filter
Light oil for fast throttle response! If you really want a 20 grade oil - just use 20W50. It is 20 grade at the working temperature - never gets significantly hot in the carb (quite the opposite!). No need to get any fancy 'fork' oil.....
