A new rattle
I have just changed the clutch relay shaft on my series 2 car along with a new Tufnol bearing /bronze bush and poly bush and new spring as the parts were really worn , the rods were almost new and the 5/16 size ,all parts were greased up and reassembled and adjusted and feel really smooth . The problem is with the clutch depressed and slightly blipping the throttle for better gear engagement there is a loud rattle coming from under the car around the gear lever area which was not present before , I have been under the car and cannot see anything obvious , if the throttle is blipped a couple of times the noise is not there Any ideas please
Re: A new rattle
Can't be anything too serious if it goes away. Do you have a return spring on the clutch linkage? Exhaust loose?

Re: A new rattle
Exhaust is fine and the springs are fitted, its just so annoying that the existing linkage was totally shot with wear , I replaced the parts with new items including the modified spherical bush in bronze to a Tufnol item and now I have a rattle that was not there before , so I presume it must be something I have done

If it's really annoying, I'd remove the floor over the gearbox and see what's happening to cause the noise.
